Miles Arthur Everett passed away Friday, October 26, 2012, at the Mendocino Coast District Hospital in Fort Bragg, Calif. He was 62 years old. Miles was born April 11, 1950, in Billings, Mont. to Arthur and Eleanor (Strunk) Everett. As a child he lived in Montana; Rantoul, Ill.; Oklahoma; Newfoundland; Chicago; and Ashland, Ore. where he graduated high school. As a young adult, Miles attended Southern Oregon College (now known as Southern Oregon University). Miles was a life-long advocate for democracy. He often carried a copy of the Constitution in his shirt pocket. In his final years his profession and avocation was bringing public access television programming to the communities where he lived. His friends could always count on him to join them for a good cup of coffee and an informed and spirited political discussion. In Fort Bragg he volunteered many hours for community advisory committees and for the Senior Center.
Miles's sisters, Claudia Everett, of Ashland, Ore. and Sami Scripter, of Portland, Ore., invite everyone to join them in remembering Miles Saturday, December 1, 10:00 a.m., at the Redwood Coast Senior Center, 490 North Harold Street, Fort Bragg, CA 95437.
Contributions in Miles's name may be made to the Redwood Coast Senior Center, the Democratic Party, or a charity of individual choice.
