Ashland Community Hospital's board has voted to team up with Asante.
(Updated 2:22 p.m. and 2:45 p.m.) Ashland Community Hospital's board has voted to team up with Asante.
The new partnership was announced in a press conference at 2 p.m. today.
Asante operates Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford and Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass.
ACH was close to reaching an agreement with San Francisco-based Dignity Health to stabilize the hospital's financial future when the organization backed out last month.
Doug Gentry, chairman of the ACH board of directors, has said a local partnership was likely, with Asante and Providence Health & Services of Seattle, which operates Providence Medford Medical Center, each submitting proposals.
Both gave what Gentry called strong proposals, but Asante offered "certain financial securities for the future."
He also said that two services at issue in the negotiations with Dignity -- assisted suicide and abortion -- are "not at issue with Asante."
We will post more information on the announcement as it becomes available.
