 Posted: 2:00 AM November 06, 2012

Southern Oregon sophomore quarterback Austin Dodge became only the second player in SOU history to earn NAIA national player of the week honors multiple times when he was named on the offensive side of the ball Monday for the second time this season.

Dodge led the Raiders — ranked 12th in this week's NAIA Top 25 poll, to their fifth consecutive victory and fourth game with at least 60 points when he threw for a program-record 550 yards Saturday in a 63-35 road win over Eastern Oregon in La Grande.

He completed 32 of 55 pass attempts, including four for touchdowns, to extend his streak of at least two touchdown passes to nine straight games and surpass the 30-touchdown plateau (he has 31).

Dodge leads the NAIA in passing yards per game (426.6), total offense (3,933), total offense per game (437) and total passing (3,839). He's second in pass efficiency (168.8).

He joined Dusty McGrorty as the only Raiders in program history to claim the award more than once. McGrorty was named offensive player of the week twice during the 2003 season.

Dodge also was similarly honored by the Cascade Collegiate Conference.

Southern Oregon junior guard Melissa Sweat was named the Cascade Collegiate Conference player of the week.

Sweat joined the SOU this season after transferring from San Diego State, and she opened the season in dominant form to help the Raiders defeat California Maritime and New Hope Christian over the weekend.

While averaging just over 23 minutes in each game, Sweat surpassed 20 points in both contests, including 25 with six rebounds and six steals against New Hope Christian.

For the weekend, she shot 59.4 percent (19 of 32) and averaged 23.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.5 steals.
