Neil Mangicaro, Aaron Reed and Kevin Conness will dust off their originals and regroup for a Monk reunion show at 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Alex's Plaza Restaurant and Bar, 35 N. Main St., Ashland.
Only keyboardist Thomas Mackay will be missing from the Monk lineup.
The Ashland group disbanded three years ago when its members decided to go in different musical directions. Mangicaro (guitar and bass) joined Ras Cricket and The Cultivators, Reed went with SYNRGY and Conness with LOVEBITE.
Their reunion show will feature Monk's original reggae, hip-hop and funk songs.
"Ever since we broke up, we still had a deep love for Monk and the family it created," Mangicaro says. "We've had tons of people — mostly our girlfriends — asking us to play again.
"Monk is a really good outlet for us to express ourselves authentically in music. The other bands we play in are limited to one genre, but Monk is more of a melting pot."
The cover to the show at Alex's is $5. Local reggae band The Illies will open the show. Call 541-482-8818.
