  • Ashland High School presents the five-time Tony Award-winning, Broadway musical "The Drowsy Chaperone."
This show-within-a-show includes a silly sequence of events involving Broadway star and bride-to-be Janet Van De Graaff and her rich groom-to-be, Robert Martin, on their wedding day. In short, nothing goes according to plan, and somehow one wedding turns into four.
A cast of 28 students, directed by Tyrone Wilson, will deliver plenty of laughs in the production as gangsters, groomsmen, a Broadway producer, an aspiring actress, a Latin lover and an alcoholic chaperone, to name a few. Look for Jeremiah Lieberman, Noah Yaconelli, Lisa Marie Werfel, Alyssa Monning, Amelia Mejia, Michaela Poling, Joseph Yaconelli, Jackson Richmond, Braedon Bell, Mason McClellan, Elena Toppo and Isabelle Enns.
Shows are set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, Nov. 7-10, and Thursday through Saturday, Nov.15-17, in the high school's Mountain Avenue Theatre, 201 S. Mountain Ave., Ashland. Matinees are set for 2 p.m. Sundays, Nov. 11 and 18.
Musical direction is by Karl Iverson, choreography is by Suzanne Seiber, costume design is by Mary Scott, lighting design is by Bart Grady and set design is by Don Zastoupil.
Tickets cost $10 for the Nov. 7 preview. For all other shows, tickets cost $20 for reserved seats, $15 for general seats and $10 for students and seniors. Tickets are available at Paddington Station, Tree House Books and Music Coop in Ashland, at www.showtix4u.com or by calling 866-967-8166.
