Halloween festivities will fill downtown

 Posted: 12:25 PM October 30, 2012

The Ashland Children's Halloween Parade will kick off at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31.

The little costumed revelers will march down East Main Street from the Ashland library to the Plaza.

East Main Street will be closed between Gresham and Water streets from 1:30 to 5 p.m. for the festivities. Traffic will be re-routed to Lithia Way and drivers entering town from the north will be rerouted on to Hersey Street, Ashland police said in a news release today.

As the Halloween celebrations take a more adult turn after dark, law enforcement officials from across the county will join Ashland police to monitor activities and keep an eye out for crimes and violations, officials said. A patrol team also will be on the lookout for intoxicated drivers.
