The Ashland girls placed fourth and the Grizzly boys fifth in the Class 5A District 1 championships at Bend High on Friday at Bend.

The Ashland girls placed fourth and the Grizzly boys fifth in the Class 5A District 1 championships at Bend High on Friday at Bend.

Ashland's girls scored 101 points, finishing ahead of Redmond in the five-team meet. Summit won with 33 points.

The top Grizzly girl finisher was Megan Ganim, who was 13th in 20:35.4 over the 5,000-meter course. She was followed by Madeline Chaves (16th, 21:03.5), Sara Dunagan (23rrd, 21:36.6), Quinn Blackwolf (24th, 21:42.0) and Christine Impara (25th, 21:48.1)

Summit's Piper McDonald won in 19:00.3.

On the boys side, Summit triumphed with 18 points. Ashland scored 133. The Grizzlies were led by Lars Ferguson-Rockwell in 20th in 18:18.8. Behind him were Jannik Ehret (24th, 18:35.5), Kelly Honsinger (27th, 18:46.8), Louie Snowden (29th, 18:55.4) and Jacob Laurance-Thorpe (33rd, 19:05.9).

Summit's Travis Neuman was first in 16:29.1.
