Charles Joseph (Chuck) Staley passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family October 13, 2012, at age 92. He was born in Casper, Wyo. but lived all around the country.

He attended Hollywood High School and the University of California, Los Angeles. He served as a naval aviator during World War II and the Korean conflict. After his military service, he was with the Federal Aviation Administration as head of South East Asian Operations.

He and his late wife, Andy, lived in many places around the world after his Navy service, including Morocco, the Philippines, Guam and Korea. When he and Cecile were married in 2004, they opted to spend summers in Ashland, Ore. and winters in Kailua, Hawaii, where he had many friends and acquaintances. He played golf and tennis well into his 80s and remained active until just recently.

His survivors include his wife, Cecile; son, and daughterin-law, Keller and Mary Staley, of Bethesda, Md.; daughters, Melissa Pedersen, of Dublin, Calif. and Ann Bracket, of Eureka, Calif.; stepson, and stepdaughter-in-law, John and Joanie Abbott, of Chico, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

He will be much missed by all that knew him because he was larger than life.
