With the arrival of fall, all eyes turn to the runway. In Ashland, this means the clothing boutiques along Main Street.
On Sept. 27, Nimbus on the Plaza hosted a Martini and Manicure party that lured in about 100 shoppers focused on style. In between sips of lemon drops made from Ashland-based Organic Nation Spirits vodka and bites of salmon crostini, they browsed the shoes, fedoras and custom jewelry showcased throughout the boutique.
Some of the women tried on an infinity wrap dress, which stays true to its name by allowing countless ways in which to wear it, from modest to revealing.

Molly Braithwaite wore a backless, purple version of the versatile dress. When she twirled around, she flashed her exposed back and a printed promise on a necklace that stated she could "make the dress for you." She had a tape measure strung around her collarbone and was willing to measure women on the spot who wanted her to create the Twobirds-style, jersey-bodice dress in any color, texture and length, starting at $150.
Nimbus owner Ken Silverman invited Lauren Sargent, who owns the social-media marketing and graphic design company Wyer Media, to the party. She brought her friend, chef Jinelle Wendling, who works at the Ashland Co-op and wore a dress purchased from Nimbus. The two chatted with Justine Bowen-Jones, who was celebrating the completion of her first book, a memoir about her poet dad titled "Almost Finished." Guests were given gift bags filled with a glass menagerie animal, soaps and men's shaving balms.
