Britt Festivals reports having a "solid 2012 summer season," though attendance was down from last year because of fewer concerts.
At the 37 concerts presented this summer on the Britt hill, overall attendance was 61,000, with an average attendance per concert of nearly 1,650 people. In 2011, Britt put on 40 concerts with a total attendance of 62,000, an average of about 1,530 per concert, Britt officials said.
This year, 12 concerts sold out completely, an increase over past years.
Ticket sales and membership held steady with 2011 numbers and exceeded budget goals, officials said in a news release announcing this season's results. The release didn't include detailed financial information.
Ticket sales cover slightly more than 60 percent of Britt's operating expenses, on average, for the pops season, and 33 percent for the Classical Festival, the release said.
Britt relies on contributed income to cover the gap, officials reported. This year, Britt's business partners contributed $175,000 to the festival, a 35 percent increase over 2011. Grant support increased 14 percent this year.
