Talent Harvest Festival

 Posted: 9:26 AM October 04, 2012

After the Talent Harvest Festival's parade and fun runs have passed by, local wines and global cuisines will be available to taste until 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6.

A mobile bar will be near food vendors selling hot dogs, tacos, Thai and Hawaiian foods outside Talent City Hall, 110 E. Main St.

Starting at 10 a.m., a bartender will pour wines by Talent producers Trium Wines and Paschal-Tenuta Winery. There also will be beers for sale by Medford's Southern Oregon Brewing Co. and Ashland's Caldera Brewing Co.

Trium owner Laura Lotspeich says adults 21 and older can buy glasses of 2011 Viognier and 2006 Growers' Cuvee, a Bordeaux blend.

"I think it is important for us, as a local business, to be supportive of the festival," says Lotspeich, who with her husband, Kurt, and son, Dustin, have been growing merlot and cabernet sauvignon grapes at Talent's Pheasant Hill Vineyard since 1990.

These and other estate-grown grapes are made into Trium's 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon ($38), 2011 Pinot Gris ($19) and other wines.

"This is an opportunity for us to celebrate a season of growing and making a local product that we can all be proud of," says Lotspeich.

Her family's tasting room overlooks the vineyard, at 7112 Rapp Lane, and is open from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily April 1 through Oct. 31., Saturdays and Sundays in November and December and by calling 541-535-4015 otherwise.

"Being part of the community and welcoming community members to our vineyard and winery makes people more aware of the role agriculture still plays in this valley," she says, "and how it is changing."

There is no cost to attend the festival, listen to live music, participate in games and crafts or wander the information or growers' booths. Call 541-535-1566 or see
