Actress and vocalist Greta Oglesby will perform a lively selection of jazz standards and R&B songs at an Oregon Shakespeare Festival Green Show, set for 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6.
Oglesby spent four seasons with OSF but currently is performing with the Guthrie Theatre in her hometown of Minneapolis. She says she picks up gigs here and there between theater seasons.
For the Green Show, Oglesby will present favorites such as "Proud Mary" by Tina Turner, "Hazel's Hips" by Oscar Brown Jr., "Good Morning Heartache" by Billie Holiday and "Minnie the Moocher" by Cab Calloway.
"People always sing along with 'Proud Mary,' and I always have kids come up and be my backup dancers," Oglesby says. "They just love it."
Oglesby has a wide vocal range that, she says, falls somewhere between Marian Anderson and Nina Simone.
