Talent City Councilman and Downtowne Coffee House owner Dan Goyette has been arrested on suspicion he tried to take sexually explicit pictures of a girl in Ashland.
Goyette, 42, was arrested Wednesday at the Medford airport on a warrant charging him with attempting to use a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct. The warrant was issued after a Jackson County grand jury indicted him Aug. 24 on the felony charge.
Ashland Police Department Deputy Chief Corey Falls said his agency had been investigating Goyette since Aug. 5 but declined to give further details on the case, including the age of the victim.
Falls said at some point Goyette was tipped off to the investigation and travelled to Illinois. Ashland police arrested Goyette at the airport when he returned to Medford Wednesday.
Goyette was elected to the Talent City Council in November 2010.
He remains lodged in the Jackson County Jail this morning on $20,000.
