Ashland’s months-in-the-making nudity ban could be made permanent tonight after the City Council takes up the issue again.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in council chambers at the Ashland Civic Center, 1175 E. Main St. It’s open to the public. The council is scheduled to discuss water issues as well.
The council is scheduled to give a final reading to a citywide ban on public nudity, an issue it has been discussing for months.
Nudity already is banned at Ashland’s Plaza and in parks. Nudity in the city over the summer caused the council to consider expanding the prohibition.
Mayor John Stromberg at one point cast a tie-breaking vote that put a stop to the expansion, but he since has changed his mind and now supports the citywide ban.
