Guitar, theater groups will move performances

The new owners of Paschal Winery have begun a remodel and expansion, which has resulted in them ending the performances there of Jefferson Classical Guitar Society and Ashland Community Theater.

The theater has rescheduled its quarterly readings to the Bellview Grange on Tolman Creek Road in Ashland, with the next series of short plays by local playwrights running at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

The Classical Guitar Society has found a new performance venue at RoxyAnn Winery at 3285 Hillcrest Road, Medford. The event, showcasing professionals along with developing classical guitarists, will continue on the first Tuesday of each month. There will be wine for sale and the event is $5 a person, free to children under 12.

Both groups said the termination of their verbal agreements happened without warning, but they expressed satisfaction with their new locales.

"I'm sorry they don't want us there, but it's their property and the new spot is kind of nice," said Jeannine Grizzard, ACT president. The group had performed at Paschal since spring of 2007.

New Paschal owners Ron and Donna Tenuta were vacationing in Europe and could not be reached, but manager Leslie Simpson said Paschal will continue its popular Locals Night on the third Friday of the month, with the next one taking place on Nov. 20, with a $3 cover.
