'Green' author Kevin Danaher to speak at SOU

A nationally known author and sustainability activist will speak about building local sustainable economies in Ashland next week.

Kevin Danaher's talk is at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Stevenson Union's Rogue River Room at Southern Oregon University, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd. It's free, but donations to cover costs will be accepted.

Danaher is co-founder of Global Exchange and the Green Festivals. Global Exchange is an international human-rights organization dedicated to promoting social, economic and environmental justice. Green Festivals are two-day parties held annually in several American cities, celebrating green economies.

Danaher will discuss his latest book, "Building the Green Economy: Success Stories from the Grass Roots."

He also is the author of "Insurrection: Citizen Challenges to Corporate Power," "Democratizing the Global Economy: The Battle Against the World Bank and the IMF," and "Corporations Are Gonna Get Your Momma: Globalization and the Downsizing of the American Dream," among others.
