  • Police chased a man who was slowly driving a semi-tractor with no trailer attached across parts of rural Jackson County early this morning before they laid spike strips across a road to stop him.
Bradley Craig Pereira, 48, is in the Jackson County Jail on charges of attempting to elude police and driving under the influence of intoxicants. His bail is set at $9,000.
Sheriff's deputies received information shortly after midnight about a man driving eastbound on Corey Road from Highway 62. Deputies found the truck at Corey and Kershaw roads and tried unsuccessfully to stop it, sheriff's officials said in a news release.
The pursuit continued to Highway 140, and police continued to follow and attempt to stop the driver, who turned onto Riley Road, Alta Vista, Meridian and Stevens Road, never traveling faster than 20 mph, police said.
Eagle Point police and Oregon State Police joined the pursuit, and Eagle Point police laid the spike strips across Ayres Road, where the truck stopped and police took Pereira into custody, police said.
