13 pounds of marijuana with an estimated value of $35,000 was confiscated Friday during a traffic stop at milepost 11.
Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers, assisted by a narcotics detection canine, seized approximately 13 pounds of marijuana — with an estimated value of $35,000 — concealed in a vehicle during a Friday afternoon traffic stop on Interstate 5 in the Ashland area.
On May 8, 2009, around noon, OSP troopers stopped a 2009 Dodge Charger for a traffic violation northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 11. An investigation during the stop led to the seizure of approximately 13 pounds of marijuana concealed in the vehicle. OSP was assisted at the scene by a Shady Cove police officer and his narcotics detection dog.
Troopers arrested the driver, RAYMOND E. CHANCE, age 27, from Longview, Washington, and passenger KEVIN DEAN CHRISTENSEN (aka: Christopherson), age 29, from Rainier, Oregon.
Both were lodged at the Jackson County Jail for Unlawful Possession, Manufacturing, and Possession of a Controlled Substance — Marijuana.
CHANCE is still in custody at the jail. CHRISTENSEN bailed out over the weekend, according to OSP.
