Teen writes kids' book

 Posted: 12:45 PM April 08, 2009

Ashland High School junior Eliza Schaaf has penned a children's book and she's sharing it chapter by chapter in the Rogue News, the high school's newspaper, roguenews.net.

In the first chapter, the heroine, a 7-year-old girl, and her sidekick, her grandfather, travel to New York City by plane. During their haphazard trip, hummingbirds fly around the airport, ice cubes get dropped down a shirt and a baseball hits someone in the head.

To read the first part of the story, see the Rogue News by clicking here.

According to her Rogue News staff bio, Schaaf enjoys hanging out with her friends, swimming and really enjoys cooking meals for her family. She decided to take journalism this year because she is excited to learn how to write. She would like to write magazine articles and stories for young children someday.
