Canyonville — Two men were arrested during a routine traffic stop by Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers Wednesday afternoon on I-5 south of Canyonville after the discovery of approximately six pounds of marijuana.
According to OSP Lieutenant Douglas Ladd, at approximately 1:12 p.m. today an OSP senior trooper stopped a rented 2009 Dodge sedan with two occupants for a traffic violation on southbound Interstate 5 near milepost 88.
Subsequent investigative efforts during the traffic stop led to the discovery of two suitcases in the trunk filled with approximately 6 pounds of marijuana packaged in mason jars and valued at about $12,000. A drug detection canine assisted during the stop.
Driver Dustin Lee Miller, 26, from Junction City and passenger Josh David Thomas Henderson, 33, of Portland were lodged in Douglas County Jail for Unlawful Manufacture, Possession, and Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana.
Bail is initially set at $450,000 each.
