  • With the recent election of Mayor John Stromberg in Ashland, whose platform includes transitioning Ashland into a fully sustainable community, locals have a new focus — to be a model of "sustainable practices" for other communities to follow. Their challenge: finding an attainable avenue for individuals and families to adequately sustain themselves and prosper in the midst of change within their community and amid the trials of a struggling economy.
Humanity Unites Brilliance (HUB), a for-profit, humanitarian organization, is hosting a one-day event, "Sustaining Ourselves, Our Community and Our World." Renowned visionaries, authors and experts will address this challenge on Sunday, March 22 at the Historic Ashland Armory, 208 Oak St. Registration begins at 9 a.m., activities begin at 10 a.m. and the day is capped by a concert at 8 p.m.
Jack Canfield, co-author of the No. 1 best-selling nonfiction book of all time, "Chicken Soup for the Soul," will be the featured speaker for this event. Canfield is also the founder of the Transformational Leadership Council (TLC). He is also well known for his appearance in the acclaimed movie "The Secret."
