CERT group trains today
Twenty-four Jackson County residents will complete disaster response training today with Ashland's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Ashland Public Works.
The 24-hour curriculum taught over two intensive weekends includes disaster medical operations, instruction with fire extinguishers, organizing using the Incident Command System and a disaster exercise.
The current group includes four Jacksonville residents, two from Talent, one from Medford and 17 Ashlanders.
A part of Ashland Fire and Rescue, the preparedness and response training program has been in Ashland since 1999 and more 360 residents have graduated from it.
